Happy New Year
It is definitely a new year! We have had so many surprises and changes already and it has barely started. On New Year's Day we let Aiden and Kyler go for their very first sleepover at their cousin, Johnathan's, house. Well, Darren and I took a date night and went to a movie and dinner then as we got home Rachel, Johnathan's mom, called to say Kyler fell down the stairs and wouldn't stop crying. They thought he dislocated his elbow. So we drove the half hour to get him and then back up to the hospital where they said he broke the big bone above his elbow and dislocated his elbow. They then sent us up to the hospital in Lewiston to see an orthopedic surgeon. We drove up there at midnight and then found out he had to have surgery Monday morning. We were up with Kyler till 4:00 in the morning and then got to sleep on a tiny bed together till about 7 and then he had surgery. They put 3 pins in his elbow and luckily the surgery was only about 45 minutes long and everything went really well. The first couple of days were rough but he is doing a lot better now. Hopefully he can go back to preschool within the next few weeks. Any prayers are appreciated to help speed his recovery and that the break won't affect his growth.
Then Aiden got glasses! I was hoping he would have to wait a while but because poor vision runs so strongly in our family he was doomed from the day he was born. He loves them! But we will see how long that lasts! lol
And we had another surprise (no I'm not pregnant). Darren broke his left arm when he was 5, shattered his elbow falling off a swing set. Well due to lack of quality medical care, his arm didn't get fixed right and never healed fully. He has been having a lot of pain and finally we took him in to find out his elbow is still fractured from when he was little and it only being held together by scar tissue. The job he has been doing has been so physical it has been aggravating his arm. So, he needs a major surgery with a 4-6 month recovery. AHHH! Well, luckily his work loves him and is willing to not only hold his job for him but help him get on disability (through his work) so he can still get paid something. Which we are so grateful for. It looks like there was a reason to move up here. I don't know how we would have been able to do this living in Boise. The only way we are able to go forward and fix this is because we are staying with Darren's mom and because of his job. I am always amazed at how much the divine is taking care of us, it really strengthens my gratitude and faith. Whereas it puts a damper on a lot of things we wanted to accomplish this year, I am just grateful we are taken care of.
Good luck to everyone in the New Year!
