Fun at the Fire Station

We had our monthly group meeting with the Families First Program. This month we got to go to the fire station. Aiden and Kyler were so excited to see the fire trucks. Aiden even got to sit up in the drivers seat of one. After that all Aiden wanted to do was ride in the truck. He actually got a little mad because we couldn't let him back in the fire truck. Kyler loved the fire truck but was too scared and wouldn't sit in it. Aiden was also facinated when the fire man dressed up in his uniform. When we were all done they got called out on a call and so we all had to hurry out. But the kids got to see the fire trucks drive off and the firemen waved at them and blew their horn. The kids had a lot of fun.

Another exciting thing happened last Friday. The Families First Program asked me to go with them and talk to the legislator about my experience in the program. I guess their were 35 programs in Idaho that was like the Families First in 2007 but the budget got cut and only 7 were left. So they were trying to pass a bill to reenact the funding for the programs. So, they asked me to represent all the families in Idaho that were in the program and share my experience in the program. It was really nerve racking because it was realy formal and I had to address them as "Mr Chairman and Members of the Committee. " But I actually had a lot of fun telling them my experience and showing them a picture of my family. Everyone said I did great and now I am the official spokesperson for the Families First Program.
